Blues legend Vince Johnson and his band, the Plantation Allstars, were honored with the prestigious Beale Street Brass Note award in a ceremony that took place on December 17, 2023 in Memphis, Tenn. A well deserved, yet long overdue recognition for this storied Memphis Blues band and all of its incredibly talented members!

 

The Beale Street Brass Notes offer a tangible tribute to the outstanding people who had put Memphis music and Beale Street on the world map. Past recipients include Aretha Franklin,  Johnny Cash, and Booker T. and the M.G.'s among others.

 

The Brass Note award was presented to Vince Johnson and the band at Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale Street, gathering hundreds of fans and guests. He was joined on stage by a couple dozen musicians who have played with the Plantation Allstars family over the years. This spring the brass musical note will be embedded in a sidewalk on Beale Street, as part of the Beale Street Brass Note Walk of Fame.
